The original Bachritterburg was located on this mound (motte) until it got burnt down by peasants from the neighboring town Buchau in 1392. Its located just a rock toss away from the replica castle’s main gate. You can even see the rest room of the replica site at the far right on the image. The ditch that surrounded the mound can still be seen in front and to the right of it.
